How do I drop off my child?
Drive your child around the back of the school building. A teacher or safety patrol student will open the right side vehicle door and your child will walk into the school. When they arrive they may eat breakfast, sit in the hallway or go to their classroom, depending on what time they arrive.
How do I pick up my child?
The procedures for dismissal are the same as in the morning. Drive around the back of the school and wait in your car. The kindergarten teachers will place your child in the right side of your vehicle. Many parents ask if they can park and pick their child up. Due to safety concerns and fairness to others, we do not allow this.
What is the lunch pin system?
Every child has a pin number. This must be entered in order to purchase lunch. Your child will memorize the number and use it from kindergarten through twelfth grade.
How should I pay for lunch?
We strongly recommend adding money to your child’s account. There are so many things for your child to think about when purchasing a meal. It will simplify the process if your child only has to get the lunch, type in the pin number and go. Send in a check for any amount and give it to the cafeteria staff. Many parents pay for a month a time.
What does my child need for school?
Our school supplies list is available online (link to supplies). You will bring your child’s supplies in on your child’s second stagger day.
What are the stagger days?
To ease the adjustment of entering kindergarten, we will stagger the arrival of our kindergarten students. We will place the children in groups of five. Each child has the opportunity to spend 30 minutes with a teacher, to acclimate them to the school day.
The stagger days begin at 8:00 and end at 12:00. Lunch is served.
The 2007-2008 stagger days are as follows:
Friday, August 10th is Day A
Monday, August 13th is Day B
Tuesday, August 14th is Day C
Wednesday, August 15th is Day D
Friday, August 17th is Day A
Monday, August 20th is Day B
Tuesday, August 21st is Day C
Wednesday, August 22nd is Day D
The first full day is Thursday, August 23rd.
Full days start at 7:45 and end at 1:00.
When will I know who my teacher is?
We will call parents on Thursday, August 16th to inform you of which teacher your child will be with.
Where can I find the lunch menu?
We do not send home the menu with the children. The menu is found on our website.
Cafeteria Menu
What is the dress code?
We will address the dress code in detail at the beginning of the year. The Knox County dress code is found here: Dress Code
Do you have snack?
Yes. Every child has the opportunity to bring a light, nutritious and dry snack each day. Snack is not provided by the school and is optional.
Can we have parties for birthdays?
With so many children, it would be impossible to have a party for every child. We do recognize birthdays over the announcements. |
