I attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. I received my B.S. Degree in Education from the University of Tennessee. I received a Master's Degree in Education from Tusculum College. I have taught since 1981. I have taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades...and I think 2nd grade is the most rewarding! I love to bring the curriculum to life and have my students enjoy learning. When I am not teaching, I like to whitewater kayak, bike, hike, and read.

I have taught since 2003. I have my Master's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Tennessee. I completed part of my college internship by teaching at a primary school in Wrexham, Wales (United Kingdom). I love teaching second grade. Second graders learn a great deal from August to May. I enjoy being able to teach them how to develop as students. When I am not teaching, I enjoy reading, traveling, and spending time with my family.

I began my teaching career in 1977 after graduating from the University of Texas. During my employment with the San Antonio School District, Knoxville City, and Knox County Schools, I have taught first through third grades. Reading, scrapbooking, and gardening are some of my hobbies. My husband and I are "empty nesters" who enjoy spending time with our daughters, Sonya (Anthony) and Rhonda (Chris) and their families. My grandchildren, A.J. and Amani (twins) and toddler, Lauren, are the loves of my life. Over the years I have worked with children in various capacities and the one constant that has not changed is a child's need for love and acceptance.

I began teaching in 2002, and I have always had a desire to teach. I have a Master's Degree with a Special Teacher of Reading Endorsement from UT Knoxville. I have taught first, second, and third grades in public and private schools. I enjoy teaching second grade, and I am very excited to be at Amherst. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Stan, and playing with our dog, Macy. I also like to read, travel, and bake.
