Accelerated Reader - Pizza Hut Book-It - Junior Readers' Club - RIF

Accelerated Reader

(Grades 2nd - 5th; 1st - practice)

Accelerated Reader (AR) is a computerized reading program in which students can take quizzes on books and earn points.  The amount of points a student earns depends on the value of each quiz and the student’s performance on the quiz.  In our media center, books that have AR quizzes have an orange dot on the spine that indicates the point value of that book.   Points are accumulated from the beginning to the end of the school year, and start fresh each year.

This program is mainly for 2nd – 5th grades (Junior Reader’s Club is for K-1st), but 1st grade students are enrolled in AR for practice.  The 1st grade teachers have their own system and rewards for their students’ participation.  Below are prizes and points required for grades 2 through 5.

Junior Readers' Club

(Grades K & 1st)

This program encourages parents and children to read together.  Each nine weeks, from the 2nd to the 4th, students should read/listen to 15 picture books.  A reading sheet will be sent home on which the titles of these books can be listed and returned to school.  Students who turn in completed reading sheets by the deadline will receive a prize.

Below are links to the reading sheets for the 2007 - 2008 school year:
