Amherst Elementary School

Amherst Elementary opened its doors in August 2005. It serves the Ridgedale/Amherst community. The school is located at 7205 Ball Camp Pike, near the intersection of Ball Camp and Amherst Road.

Amherst Elementary has an enrollment of about 600 students. The capacity of the school is 800. There are the following classes: Kindergarten-5; First Grade-5; Second Grade-5 ; Third Grade-4; Fourth Grade-4; Fifth Grade-4. The school also offers the following Special Education Programs: CDC-A, CDC,  Pre- school, Resource, Satellite, Asperger's Class, Speech/Language and Hearing Impaired.

Feeder System:

Students from Amherst Elementary will attend either Bearden Middle School, Karns Middle School or Northwest Middle School. The middle school the student will attend depends on the student's home address
