5 Most Frequently Asked Questions

Q- What are the school hours?

A- The regular school day for elementary students in Knox County is from 7:45 AM until 2:45 P.M. Half days begin at 7:45 A.M. and end at 11:15 A.M.

Q- What time is my child considered tardy?

A- Students are considered tardy if they arrive to class after the 7:45 A.M. bell.

Q- Do I need to send a note if my child is absent?

A- Yes. Excuses for absences must be made in writing or in person to the principal or administrative
designee by a parent or guardian. Written excuses must be submitted within five (5) days of the student's
return to school.

Q- How do I get my child's work when he or she is absent?

A- You may request your child's work on the second day that he or she is absent. The teacher will send work that has already been covered in class down to the office. Do not request work that will not be given until later in the week. For example, if you are taking your child out of town next week, you may not pick up work that your child will miss....only work that your child has already missed.
